The football team had a tough season this year. Finishing at 6-6, the Fighting Irish was uncertain to get into a bowl in postseason. But they got invited to the Hawaii Bowl and therefore got a chance to end their 15 years streak of not winning any bowl. And they did take that chance!
They have beaten the Warriors 49-21 in a game where they have shown their real potential, something we haven’t seen in a while… Quarterback Jimmy Clausen lead his offense with 406 yards and 5 touchdowns which sets a new record for Notre Dame in a bowl. It was not the only record that would fall during this game, the wide receiver Golden Tate would also catch 6 passes for 177 yards and 3 touchdowns.
The win over Hawaii ended a streak of 9 losing bowls since 1994’s season when they ended loosing to Colorado in the Fiesta bowl.
For the occasion, the staff gave their own twist to the Notre Dame apparel and all wore an hawaiian shirt to the colors of the program. Nice to see the season end on a more positive note.
